I thought the deal was one locked ones bike securely and it would not disapear. Like someone leaves a touring bike on the porch while making a beer run it might not be there when one gets back. On the other hand if someone locks with a quality lock and cable it was almost assured bike would be there when one got back. My beat up old commuter bike was locked at the bus depot as I did not think I would need it in town where I was going to be running errands. Besides I needed to make several stops and being without bike would be alright for a change. I get back at night and bike is gone! I'm not going to replace it either. It's ok probably had 5,000 to 10,000 miles on it and everything on it was worn out except the rear rim which is only a couple years old but ride it 50 miles and the spokes come loose and one has to re-true it lol. Personally I anything it was some nerd who works for some rent a cop outfit as they are always sleazing around or some crazy Sr. citizen trying to get the kids in trouble or perhaps some stalker bus security type so they can build a new jail here. Anyway thats gonna be one expensive bike if I can prove who stole the thing
