I rate it better the Honda (too many GM parts), Mitsubishi (always has quality problems), Toyota (GM wannabee), and Suzuki (they should have stayed with motorcycles).
For the most part Consumers Reports think highly of them too.
Now just to keep you from thinking I am just ranting, I have owned or do own Honda, Toyota and Subaru cars. I avoided Mitsubishi after looking at the Dodge Colts (at the time Mitsubishi made). Time and reviews has proved this to be wise.
For quality, the Subaru is also one of the best. The problem I have with Subaru is the full time four wheel drive. While nice for a commuter car, it is not what I need when bad weather hits. I live a long way from main roads. Floods and blizzards cause problems that hamper the Subaru due to ground clearance.
