How does law school keep your options open?

Is it worth going to law school if I want to work in government? Will it increase my salary? I am very accomplished (a major and two minor), but my GPA is quite low..people tell me is you just get a law degree it will look good for when you apply to other jobs. Your perspective?

Going to law school is good for you...

...especially if you want to work in governement. It lets people know that you're shallow and willing to sell out, a character trait that is obviously strong with you.

Good luck defrauding millions!

Someone told me that most lawyers make on average $50,000. I can't confirm this. All the lawyers I know do quite well and pay more than that in income taxes. Also consider though that if you're making over $50,000 a year you're actually making more than average. Of course it will "keep your options open" but it is not necessary. If you want to become an elected official a law degree seems to be prevalent.
