how does financial aid work?

id like to transfer to the guild hall at smu but it costs a crazy 50000 dollars and im not exactly from a poor household its just my parents dont support my dream for certain reasons. I noticed it says if you qualify etc but what can i do to get that money reduced i only make like 15k a year working at a grocery store since im right out of high school
