Well generally we don't artificially select humans for breeding - it's highly unethical and practice of eugenics has lost popularity since the days of the Nazis. However, we do artifically select farm animals e.g. dairy cows with the highest milk production/best quality milk; meat animals with the greatest muscle mass/best quality meat. So artificial selection has a great influence on our food industries and the efficiency of production of animal derived products.
