I need statistics for my speech topic on why music and arts should be kept in schools. I've looked around but the sites only tell me what they do (helps express yourself, develops other motor skills, helps score higher in other classes) but I need to know HOW arts and music does this?
Also, I have a few other questions that I would need answering:
-How does music/arts develop skills?
-66% of applicants accepted into medical school are music majors, more than any other major. How and why does this benefit?
-Does knowing good art skills benefit in careers such as engineering? If so, how?
Also, I heard somewhere that cutting fine arts programs from schools do worse than those that don't. The schools without arts have students who get into more fights, do even worse on tests, and as a result the schools end up paying so much more for counselors and behavioral programs, while schools with fine arts have lower behavioral problems. Is this true? If so, does anyone know where I can find a study of it?
Anything else you have would be much appreciated.
Thank you!
Also, what can we do to stop cutback on arts and music and schools?
