...data transfer? I do not see any register bit in the SD Host Controller which indicates that the data transfer to/from the card will be in SPI protocol. There is however, option for selecting SD 1-bit or 4-bit mode. Fact that SD Host controller will not know about the commands sent to the SD card, makes it important that the driver somehow tells the host controller about it.
