How does an MLB pitcher know what pitch to throw with men on base when the

catcher flashes 4 or more signs? In professional baseball, to avoid the base-runners stealing the signs, the catcher will put down a sequence of fingers, rather than if the pitcher were throwing from the stretch.

How does the pitcher know which pitch to throw? Sometimes the catchers fingers move so quickly. Also, how can a fan watching on tv figure out what they're doing?
Great I get the indicator, similar to taking signs from the 3rd base coach or dugout. I imagine some pitcher/catcher combos have signs for everything, including pickoff and pitch out as well. Would that be correct?
