How does a working couple get financial assistance?

My husband and I just got married in August, and we have a baby on the way. Due to educational constraints as well as financial, he works jobs that don't offer very much in terms of salary, and I am the one working the job that offers medical coverage (which is EXTREMELY expensive) and better pay. I am going to be home for 2 months once this baby comes, and we still have rent, car insurance and food to pay for...and I am worried to death that we won't be able to pay for anything. We live a "no frills" lifestyle. We don't have fancy vehicles, we never buy new clothes, hell, our landlord saw us struggling so much that he lowered the rent for us (God bless him). We aren't in any severe debt, which is good. We just have a loan out on a car and my student loan which has been deferred...but it's like...we live with nothing saved in the bank because every penny literally goes toward BASIC living expenses. He doesn't have healthcare because we simply can't afford for all 3 of us to have it (and the baby can only get it through my job if I have it). Is there anything out there for honest, working people who are legally married and literally struggle week to week just to fulfill basic needs?
