Currently I have a 16inch 2005 Norco 4by, which is a great mountain bike but I never really use it for what it was built for (intense terrain). I mostly go on road and sand-gravel trails.
I now consider buying a cyclocross: I am looking for more speed, efficiency and a better posture when I ride. My mountain bike doesnt provide me with any of these, it is too small for me.
I want a comparison between both types of bicycle, include the following points and more:
How do double track tires compare to CX tires? Will they have easier rolling capability?
Gear ratios and shifting system: performance on hills, up and down.
Posture and body position: Does it allow more speed, aerodynamics, and less back strain.
Pedals: What are the benefits of those clip on pedals?
Shocks: What are the benefits of not having any shocks on the bicycle.
Handlebar position.
Overall speed gain, will a CX bike require less muscle stress to go faster (efficiency), and overall riding experience and difference.
Thanks!!
I do not plan on going on obstacles or drops I never do that, even with a mountain bike which is why I think I should get a CX.
