How does a hydrogen bomb work?

A hydrogen bomb uses an atomic bomb as its trigger. The atomic fission explosion from the atomic bomb produces enough heat and pressure to cause a fusion reaction in the small amount of hydrogen isotopes at the center of the device. The fusion reaction makes the really big bang.
 
There are two types of atomic explosions that can be facilitated by Uranium-235: fission and fusion. Fission, simply put, is a nuclear reaction in which an atomic nucleus splits into fragments, usually two fragments of comparable mass, emitting 100 million to several hundred million volts of energy.
