How do you write english haiku?

Someone told you have to write it differently from how you write it in Japanese, so how do you write it in english? :P
Aw crap..... What's a syllable again? A vowel and a non-vowel letter or something? -_-'' I suck at english, the only reason I passed it is because I can spell

Lines of poetry that have syllables of certain set length.
The last line sums up the others.
Five syllables, then 7 then 5.

No rhyming and only those three lines. Often they are about nature, weather, natural things.
 
Last I checked, it's the same 5-7-5 pattern with syllables.
My English class is covering poetry right now, so I should be right.
If not, then my teacher lied. XD
