how do you write a thesis statement for an american author?

okay. so just to let everybody know..i am in the 11th grade.. and not to sound stupid..but i am writing a research paper on an American Author.. i chose Stephen Chbosky.. i am writing on the actual author..not his books..i dont know how to write an introductory paragraph..and it has to have a thesis statement.. i have no clue how to do this... can anybody help? and id rather not have any smart-attitude comments..just a little help please..

Stephen Chbosky is an amazing author for his many books. In his many stories he had published, he had also inspired many young children to read his books and to create their own.
