How do you write a short(at least a page)story for language arts?

I had always had problems thinking about what to write about and how to make that little thought into at least a page or more.After the teacher announces the writing assignment,the other kids pops up the idea what to write about,just like that while it takes me time to find out what to write about and how to organize it.HELP........
