My dog has never had any aggression problems ever but for some reason when he first sees a dog he gets extremely energized and will whine like crazy! I take him to the dog park a lot and when we first walk up to the gates, he is still on his leash and he will start pulling and whinning. I have done obedience training which helped with the pulling but the whinning I just cant stop. No matter how many times I say no or try to stop and wait for him to stop, he never stops untill he is able to enter the dog park. But as soon as he gets in the dog park and sniffs all the dogs he is great with the other dogs. The same thing happens when I take him walking on a leash. As soon as another dog comes in sight he will start whinning and his body just gets tense. A lot of other people see this and usually think that he is an aggressive dog but as soon as my dog gets close to the other dog and is able to sniff him he calms down and has never shown any signs of aggression before. Does any one have any suggestions?
How do you train a dog not to whine around other dogs?
