How do you think a stock 1997 Honda Civic, EX Coupe, with a manual transmission (Tech Specs: 127 HP @ 6,600 rpm; 107 ft lb @ 5,500 rpm), with a driver who knows how to push the car to the edge, would do against a stock 2009 Scion TC, with an automatic transmission (Tech Specs: 161 HP SAE @ 6,000 rpm; 162 ft lb , 220 Nm @ 4,000 rpm). Either drag or course.
Real answers only please.
Did I not say REAL ANSWERS only? In reality, even though the Scion may have 32 more horsepower then the Honda, the Honda has the advantage because it is a manual. By it being a manual it has the ability to reach full power. In the Scion, because it is an automatic, it does not have that full power because it shifts earlier. So in reality, the Scion only has around a 15 to 20 horsepower gain over the civic. It may win in a drag race, but I'm willing to bet it will loose on a course.
