accident,? all without making them fear cars or causing them extreme worry that Mommy and Daddy won't 'come home' one day because they got into a car???

First of all, my niece is 3 and her teacher just passed, and the story is going around school so I'm afraid she is going to hear how it all happened at school... I would NEVER tell her how it happened, however just-in-case she found out, how would anyone explain it?
