how do you syphon a pool with a normal garden hose?

im trying to drain my gf's pool because shes trying to get it ready for her graduation party. so ive been draining it with a bucket due to the fact that im a little low on cash to rent a pump to drain it, can some one tell me how to syphon? i will be grateful for whoever gives me the proper technique
