When my mom's doberman was six (she's almost 8 now), she moved and gave her to me. I had always been aroung the dog and lived with her for awhile, so the transition was smooth. She is a wonderful dog, is very well behaved, and has a clean bill of health. However, since she was a puppy, she has been a whiner when it comes to treats. She will whine for hours until she gets what she wants. She usually has a favorite treat for about 3-4 months before moving on to a new one. If you give her a different treat, she will either walk away, or take it and spit it out/fling it away. She will then start whining again. This behavior occurs at all hours, including at night. She will sometimes wake up in the middle of the night and start in again. If you give her the treat, she'll go back to sleep. If I ignore the behavior, it will go on for hours until I finally cave. It is the only behavior issue we have with her. Any suggestions on how to stop these tantrums since she's always been like this?
