How do you set up a song as a ringtone on a samsung Instinct phone?

I asked the guy (or should I say kid) at the sprint store and he was like "....um....(finger in his hear)...um...you can't..." Than I said well...I bought the phone off ebay and it had songs on it as ring tones but they weren't songs I liked so I changed them. them to the standard ones that were in the phone already. Then he said "....um...(looking at the ceiling) um....then you probably just got to go online..." No website or anything just "go online" So here I am "online" and asking someone else. lol
Ps, I'm not exaggerating on the kid at the store.
