how do you replace or fix the neutral safety switch in a 1992 toyota corolla?

My car sometimes does not start. When I turn the key, there is no whir, no crank, no nothing. I have been doing some research and found that it could be the neutral safety switch causing this. As I have replaced almost everything associated with the starting system (except for significant portions of the wiring harness) for the vehicle, I'm desperate! Especially since winter is coming and I like my car to start in -35.

I am not really car savvy, so the more detailed the answer the better! Thank you in advance
 
Autozone .com has a free on line repair guide for your car. When you punch in your vehicle information and go to the repair guides section the Nuetral Safety Switch portion is under Drive Train,,,,then go to Automatic Trans Axel,,,then you see ''nuetral safety switch.
But getthis. The switch costs $ 284.99 + tax
And yours might be okay.
So here is what you do--- The only thing the switch does is make contact between 2 wires on the switch,,, and that lets the starter solenoid work. So pull off the connector to the switch and put a jumper wire on the connector. Now try to turn over the starter motor. If it works its the switch and if it doesn't its not the switch. Either way you dont want to pay all that money for a s.h.i.t.y little 2bit switch--its crazy.
It may be that the price is wrong,,i dont know. But i know i wouldnt pay that for a part that costs maybe $5 to make.
