I recently purchased a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee LTD with all the bells and whistles that were available when it was produced. The dual zone climate control is presenting a problem on the passenger side of the vehicle. With both set at 80 degrees or any other temperature, the drivers side gets comfortably warm air but at the same time, the passenger side gets blasted with ice cold air. I've contacted the dealer where I bought the jeep and was told that it's probably the "blender" or "blend door" in the vent system [dealer wasn't sure of the correct term]. I know that some of the dashboard components must be removed to access the vent system. How difficult is it to repair without going to a dealer? I'd like to have an answer from a qualified jeep service tech or an automotive air-conditioning specialist. I really don't like freezing my girlfriend's lower extremities.
