Hi, it does depend on what is causing the pinched nerve. Depending on the cause, one might try epidural steroid injections into the spine, which can reduce the inflammation in there. Sometimes people have no more pain again, other times it comes back and for some it doesnt help at all, but it's something to think about. Of course surgeyr is another option, but that would be a last resort.
First you really need to find out the results of your MRI to see if it shows any cause of compression. Did you pick up the MRI films? If so, check in the envelope and look if the MRI report is in there. I know one place I go to for MRI's always has the reports inside. Another place I went, though, does not do that and said I had to get the info from my doctor, not from them.
