How do you remove the rear pillars of a 97 chevy silverado?

I want to change the speakers, how do I get the pillars off without breaking them?
Edit: I should say, my hubby wants to replace the speakers, not me!! :)
Yes we are talking about the trim panels over the rear speakers.
