How do you remove a clutch cable from 1985 Toyota Tercel?

My husband is trying to replace the clutch cable on a 1985 Toyota Tercel. He has looked in a couple of different manuals but all they really say is block it, disconnect battery and remove clutch cable. What we're looking for is more detailed instructions on how to remove the clutch cable. Which end first, for instance. I would appreciate if some of the mechanics here could give me some instructions on this project. Thank you
