How do you put pets in the pet store in The Sims 2 Open for Business?

I know that it can be done. I've seen youtube videos where people have kittens and puppies in the containers that are designated for them. I don't know how you get them from my house to the pet store, or from my neighbours to the pet store, or even if I could adopt them and put them in there.
