how do you put cheats in red faction the first game for ps2. There aint even a cheat...

...screen.how do you do it? i have cheats that i found off the internet and off a cheat book about red faction the first game for the ps2 and the cheat book sais insert the cheats at the cheats screen on the pause menu but there aint no cheat screen and ive treid doing cheats in the setting and the pause menu but they never work. HElp me what do i do if you know?
