How do you politely decline when someone asks you to talk on their cell phone?

I work in a retail store, and occasionally a customer hand me their cell phone and will want me to answer questions for someone for whom they are shopping. I am not comfortable with this. From doing research, I've learned that cell phones have more germs than toilet seats. Also, I cannot be always be sure of the person's hygiene habits (did they just use the bathroom and not wash their hands; or were they just using germ laden railings on public transportation?) I've been flat out refusing, but I'd like to do this more politely. Help!
