How do you play video in google chrome?? my video and flash games work perfect...

...on explorer but not chrome..? I can watch say a youtube.com video on my internet explorer but when i try to watch any youtube video on chrome, it tells me I have to download the latest flash player or whatever.
which is confusing considering the same video works in explorer...what do i have to do to watch videos on chrome????
