How do you pick the right book for you?

I've been buying books which I don't really continue.

it's like whenever I see the summary at the back, it looks good to read, however, while reading halfway and probably almost halfway, I feel like the stories are not good enough.

it sucks though because I've been buying the wrong books for me :{

any suggestions for me to read? I am a 19 year old college, and what's worse is that I don't know what type of books I would like to read :[

ask your mom. she knows what you like, or even better ask your librarian. tell her or him what you like and they will know what other books you would like. Plus, if you take them out of the library you will not have to pay

i love mystery and fantesy because they really interest me. if you like hisrory try historical finction. if you like romance and drama get a book about teenagers.

You really have to just use the old 'Hit and Miss' technique I think. Keep buying potentially good books, and reading them, if you dont like them sell them on or whatever. Remember to vary the genre of books your reading - try a romance one one week, then a horror or a fiction the next! (An inexpensive way of doing this is join your local library) Eventually you will find a genre or an author that really stands out to you, so go in that direction, then you do what every reader does, keep reading the 100's of shit books until you hit the jackpot and reread some over and over. As you keep reading you get more adept at chosing ones that you know you will like.
Id say try the bestsellers stand too, they dont give you the thrill of discovering a lost masterpiece, but they are bestsellers for a reason!
Good Luck
