How do you pack a hiking bag?

with the sleeping bag and mat, also, what goes at the bottom of the hiking bag?

Think of the things you might need quickly, like waterproofs, first aid/medication, etc. These need to be at the top for easy access. I always carry a loud whistle in case of emergencies.
