How do you open a html file?

I've got an ebook but its in html format and won't open, I've tried opening it with internet explorer but it goes download, then I do that.. and the file is still the same. I dunno what to do!
Is there a way I could convert it, so it opens in word or something?

well maybe you can go to word and choose open file then go to the directory you have and open it, also if it doesn't work try with the right click then choose, (open as...) and then choose notepad
