How do you make money on Ford debt symbol F-PS or F-S?

The dividend ex date will probably be 12/26 but it is my understanding that if they do pay the dividend it will be deducted from the value of the stock the next day. Cramer said it was a 35% return investment and I have read articles that say the same. How do they figure a 35% return if the dividend comes out of the value of your investment?
