How do you make Homer into a fat ball that bounces in The Simpsons Game for Wii?

I can make the icon "fat" and have seen a video of Homer turning into the ball so he can bounce over the jump from the ramp into a courtyard. I bought the game used and it doesn't have a manual.

This is the Around the World in 80 Bites level.

I'm sure it's something relatively simple I am not doing, but am just stuck.
