How do you make an Itunes song your Iphone ringtone?

Hi,
I recently baught an Iphone, and there are limited ringtones on it so I wanted to make a song my ringtone..
I've googled it and it can be done, but with all the songs I have (off C.D's) It says that the song needs to be purchased off the Itunes Store.. Is there any way that I can get the songs I have downloaded or the songs off my C.D's as my ringtone??
