How do you make a career in dancing?

I've always found dancing and music interesting, but my mother never had the money to get me into lessons. I'm 19 now and I would like to get into dancing. Is there any money in it though? Also do people still sing and dance to jazz like in the movie All That Jazz? I've always been able to sing.
