How do you like the acceleration on the Toyota Corolla XRS (recent models)?

I'm thinking of getting a new Corolla XRS. I like the what it has to offer. However, I'm a little concerned about the acceleration power of the car. I've always bought cars w/ V6's in them. I like the extra power when passing on the highway or merging onto the highway. The XRS has the 2.4L engine.
 
the current generation XRS inferior to the last generation one which was lighter. I would defiantely look for a previous generation one.
