How do you know if car has a belt or chain?

I'm looking to buy a used car this week. I want a wagon or hatchback but want to purchase a car that has a timing chain instead of a rubber timing belt. How can I tell which a car has?

The cars I am interested in include:
pontiac vibe
volkswagen passet wagon
Suzuki Forenza
2007 Dodge Caliber
etc.
