How do you get videos from Canon Vixia HG21 to windows movie maker?

my parents have this video camera and it comes with its own software which in blogs is horrible. i was wondering how to get these videos of our trip to Washington D.C. onto a computer, with vista, and into windows movie maker. i need the full explanation pleaaaassse!!!! and thanks
