how do you get the hidden cars in Need For Speed :Pro street on PS3?

i downloaded the add ons through the web and installed it but it's now showing up at the car shop in the game. should i update the game for newest version ? Im playing game without any updating at all which's version 1.0
 
Before or after you beat career mode, preferably after, race in every single race day event and place first. You can get a lot of cool stuff.
