How do you get rid of photos off of your computer you don't need anymore?

When I scroll down, I have My Photos and My Attachments. It shows all the photos I have received in e-mails since 07. I deleted the e-mails since I already transferred the photos to a flash drive. I thought by deleting the e-mail it would delete the attachments also. Am I doing something wrong?
