I too and addicted to opiates.. I'm sure everyone will tell you to either taper-DOES NOT WORK 4 ME- that's me though. or get a doctor to help you with Suboxone- MY INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER THAT- or go to Methadone which could end up being a life long battle!!! For ME anyways. How long have you been taking Loratabs?

Believe it or not, you can get off cold turkey, it's very hard and there are some good suggestions that are stickies on the board under sample detox plan. Cold turkey can be a bit dangerous depending on how long and how much you have been using, but after trying the taper approach a few times, I finally realized that they only way I was stopping was to go cold turkey, so I tossed everything down the commode and started suffering. I was taking close to 30 Norco's a day and had been doing that for quite some time and I admit that the withdrawals were an absolute pain, I felt miserable for a few weeks, took a lot of hot baths and suffered through sleepless nights, but at the end of about two weeks, the body started to adjust to a point where I could begin to function - not completely normal, but close enough to not be dangerous to myself and others.

I know it's difficult, you will suffer, but you can do it - I did and there is nothing special about my resolve. I just put myself into a situation where I couldn't easily access the drugs. Good Luck and keep posting, a lot of us have been there and we can point you in the right direction or at least tell you what is normal and to be expected.

Good advice Manthathurt. It is about resolve. If you have been taking them recreationally then that is one thing. If you take them for pain and abuse that's even more complicated because you are stuck with your addiction and the pain relief dilemna. Cold turkey is fine as long as you can take a few days off. Read the information at the top of the board page for sure. Everyone is different. Good luck to going where you want to be.
