How do you get images centered on a webpage in Dreamweaver?

I want to add long bars (graphics sliced from Illustrator) along the top and bottom of my webpage but they keep going to the left. I want them to be centered and it would be greate if I could get them to auto stretch across the page. I treid the auto strech option but it just makes everything else position weird
