How do you get cat hairs off oil painting?

I haven't done much oil painting but it's been very frustrating. I paint at night and I will work on a painting and then in the next morning find cat hair and dust or other fibers on the still tacky or wet surface. I end up spending too much time tediously trying to remove it with a brush or fingernails. This method also sometimes messes up or smears stuff I've painted.

I've found answers on how to get oil paint out of cat hair but not cat hair out of oil paint. The cats are not touching the painting. This is hair, dust, fibers that are just floating around the house I guess. I've tried putting the painting somewhere that is free of cat hair (the oven, turned off of course) but I still find cat hair orother fibers on the painting.

Any suggestions on how to remove it, or prevent this from happening in the first place?

(getting rid of the cats is not an option)
