how do you get a sickly dog to eat?

my dog is terribly sick and refusing to eat anything.
we've taken him to the vet, and he has some rare illness only yorkies get.
the only advice they gave us is to put him on a high protien diet.
only problem is the medication they have him on causes him not to be hungry.
 
you should really take the dog to the vet. there is a reason that your dog isn't eating.
 
If your regular vet isn't being helpful in this situation, it's time to find a new vet. GOOD vets will bend over backwards to help your dog to get better -- that's their job!
