How do you fix squeaky bicycle pedals?

It's weird because the squeaks completely went away for few weeks, and now the noise is back and it's annoying as heck. Is it as simple as spraying some WD40 on certain parts, or do I need to disassemble and fix something?

tip the bike on its side so pedal is in the ground, then spray WD40 into the area where the bearings are. Allow the lube to seep down inside the pedal. Now turn the bike over and spray the other side. Your pedals will spin like mad! have fun

WD-40 will make it worse and remove any lubricant. If you can take them apart regrease the bearings. If they are sealed you will have to replace them.
