how do you fix a sanyo lens error 0x0311?

I bough a camera about 8 months ago. when i turn it on the screen says lens error 0x0311. How do I fix this. My mom told me I probly just got sand in the lens. but when i took it apart and shook it, no sand came out. i put it back togeather and turned it on and it sayed the same thing. Please help me fix this!!!!
