Just bought a 84' 650 Nighthawk and have been fixing it up. I recently
encountered a problem. The bike started to have the clutch slip in all
gears. Barely got it home from a ride. Thought maybe the clutch master
had failed, but not the case.
1. the bike will shift into different gears with the clutch lever
pulled without the engine running.
2. with the engine running I can pull the clutch lever and shift a gear
but no power or engagement to the rear wheel

I don't get it.

I recently replaced the friction plates and changed the oil with new
Valvoline 20/50 4 stroke oil which is supposed to be good for wet
clutches. I cleaned out the clutch master cylinder, the clutch slave
cylinder and pulled a vacuum on the line. I have good pressure when
pulling the clutch lever.

Help please. Thanks

Rick
