how do you fix a 98 malibu car?

take it to a mechanic......the fact that you know it is leaking is great it means you pay attention to your car and keep an eye on the fluids and such...........now for the bad news.....the fact that you don't even know where to start tells me you shouldn't be trying to make this repair yourself!!!!!
 
If it is the 3.1 V6 motor, check the area around the intake manifold; failing intake manifold gaskets are common on these cars. GM has a Technical Service Bulletin on this along with a revised gasket.

If the intake manifold gasket isn't leaking, your water pump could be possibly going bad too. The pump has a weep hole that will start dripping antifreeze if its starting to fail. It could also be a bad radiator or radiator hose.

Other than that find the leak and fix it is all I can say.
