how do you find the values of a tangent function (pre-calculus)?

What I mean is, is there a formula for calculating the other ratios of a tangent function? For example, with a sine I know that you can use1/4 multiplied by the period + the phase shift to find other points on a shifted graph. Is there anything comparable for a tangent function? Also, how is a cotangent function graphed?

thanks.
Can someone actually answer the question and not give me BS about the unit circle (duh, I get the y over x junk)? Thanks...again, I'm asking about calculating other values for a tangent...like I know how to find the asymptotes, but how do you find the other points on the graph? Please answer clearly and concisely or please do NOT bother at all.

Thanks
